Travelers across Ghana will have to dig deeper into their pockets starting today, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, as VIP Jeoun Transport officially implements its nationwide fare increase. The management of the private transport giant defended the move, citing the “unbearable” cost of fuel, spare parts, and the extended travel times caused by deteriorating road conditions.

Why the Prices are Rising
Speaking on the adjustment, the Managing Director of VIP Jeoun, Adakabre Frimpong Manso, explained that the company had no choice but to “plug the holes” in their finances. He noted that the Accra-Kumasi journey, which typically takes six hours, now often takes up to 10 hours due to bottlenecks at Osino, Nkawkaw, and Konongo. This delay leads to significantly higher diesel consumption and mechanical wear and tear.
