FBI Arrests Over 130 in Ghana in Major Scam Operation Targeting Americans

The FBI has announced that more than 130 people have been arrested or detained in Ghana as part of a major operation targeting a scam network accused of defrauding Americans of nearly US$10 million.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced the figures on X on Thursday, saying investigators had identified 89 victims, more than 130 people arrested or detained, and seized over 300 electronic devices. He said the investigation remains ongoing and described the operation as the latest phase of Operation Blackout, the FBI’s campaign against international scam compounds.
“These scam compounds target American citizens and destroy lives,” Patel said, adding that there was “more to come.”
