The most interesting part of this deal is the duration. Queiroz has signed a four-month contract.

  • The Strategy: The GFA is playing it safe to avoid the massive compensation payouts they faced with previous coaches. This “interim” deal is purely for the 2026 World Cup campaign.

  • The Extension: While there were rumors of a “Semi-Final clause,” his agent has clarified that any extension beyond the World Cup will be based on a mutual agreement and an evaluation of his playing style, not just reaching the final four.

2. Financial Terms

Queiroz reportedly asked for $200,000 a month but the GFA negotiated it down.

  • The Salary: He will earn approximately $100,000 per month for the duration of the tournament.

  • The Backroom Team: He isn’t coming alone. He is bringing four to five technical assistants, including his long-time partner Roger De Sa.

3. The World Cup Challenge

Queiroz is making history by appearing at his fifth World Cup (having coached South Africa, Portugal, and Iran three times). He has less than 60 days to prepare for Group L, where Ghana faces:

  • Panama

  • England

  • Croatia
