The tragedy involving Elder Frank Kwabena Donkor and the loss of his two sons has deeply touched many
Elder Frank Kwabena Donkor, the renowned founder and leader of Hebron Prayer Camp, has made his first public address following the tragic aircraft accident that claimed the lives of his two sons, Captain Frank Amoaning Donkor and Elijah Ofori Donkor.
The Incident
On Monday, March 16, 2026, a Sky Arrow microlight aircraft (registration 9G-ADV) crashed on the premises of the TMA Daycare Centre in Tema Community One. The aircraft was en route from Ho to Accra when it lost contact with air traffic control.
Captain Frank Donkor, 36, a seasoned flight instructor with over 15 years of experience, was piloting the craft. He was accompanied by his younger brother, Elijah Ofori Donkor, 25, a recent university graduate. Both brothers perished when the aircraft caught fire upon impact. Miraculously, no children or staff at the daycare center were injured, despite the plane coming down just yards from where pupils were in class.
Elder Donkor’s Message of Faith
Speaking to his congregation at Hebron Prayer Camp on Sunday, March 22, Elder Donkor displayed remarkable strength. He shared a poignant conversation he had with his wife, noting that they have found solace in their faith and the stories of biblical figures like Job and Naomi, who also endured the loss of children.
“My wife said to me that what has happened to us… happened to many people long before we were even born,” Elder Donkor shared. “Let us console ourselves and be strong in the Lord, because God is about to do bigger things.”
National Commiseration
The tragedy has drawn high-profile attention across Ghana. A delegation led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh visited the family to offer condolences on behalf of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP.
The aviation community has also paid tribute to Captain Frank Donkor, who had recently married in December 2025. He was described by colleagues as a highly skilled and meticulous pilot.
Ongoing Investigation
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has recovered the wreckage and is currently investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary reports are focusing on the aircraft’s maintenance history and the circumstances of its final flight.
The Donkor and Wettey families have requested privacy as they prepare to lay the two brothers to rest on Friday, March 28, 2026.
