FIXING DUMSOR CAN TAKE UP TO 3 MONTHS TO 2 YEARS- ECG BOSS
The ongoing power supply challenges in Ghana have taken center stage once again, as a senior official of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Kpekpena, has addressed the public on efforts to stabilize the situation.
In a recent briefing, Kpekpena provided insight into the timeline and measures being implemented to tackle the current power outages affecting several parts of the country. According to him, the power disruptions—commonly referred to as “dumsor”—are being actively managed, with technical teams working around the clock to restore consistent electricity supply.
He explained that the challenges stem from a combination of technical faults, infrastructure limitations, and increased demand on the national grid. However, he assured Ghanaians that the ECG, in collaboration with other key stakeholders in the energy sector, has already put in place a structured plan to resolve the crisis within a defined timeframe.
“We understand the inconvenience this situation has caused households and businesses,” Kpekpena noted. “Our engineers are working diligently, and we expect significant improvements in power stability in the coming days.”
The ECG boss emphasized that ongoing maintenance works, system upgrades, and fault repairs are critical steps toward achieving long-term reliability. He also urged the public to remain patient while these interventions are being carried out.
