Akofena Celebrates as Court Halts Adwoa Safo’s Funeral Plans for Apostle Kwadwo Safo

A dramatic turn has emerged in the ongoing dispute over the funeral arrangements for the late Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group.

The Accra High Court has granted a 10-day interim injunction, temporarily restraining former Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo from proceeding with the planned funeral and burial rites scheduled for July 30 and 31, 2026.

Following the court’s ruling, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, Head of the Safo Family and Leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, together with some family members, expressed joy over the decision, describing it as an opportunity for the legal process to determine the dispute surrounding the late Apostle’s final wishes.

The legal battle stems from disagreements within the family regarding the implementation of Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s will and the authority to organize his funeral. Akofena has maintained that previous attempts to resolve the matter amicably failed, prompting the family to seek the intervention of the court to ensure the late industrialist’s wishes are respected.

However, Adwoa Safo has consistently insisted that the funeral arrangements remain valid and has previously stated that the burial and funeral activities would proceed as scheduled, despite objections from her brother.

The 10-day injunction means all planned funeral activities are temporarily halted while the court considers the issues before it. The ruling adds another chapter to the highly publicized family dispute over the final burial arrangements of one of Ghana’s most celebrated inventors, industrialists, and religious leaders.

Many Ghanaians are expected to closely monitor the legal proceedings, hoping for an amicable resolution that preserves the legacy of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka and brings unity to the family.
