Fake police officer arrested at Tafo Nhyieaso after soliciting bribes from drivers.
A chaotic scene unfolded on the Tafo New Road this week after a group of residents accosted a man they believed to be impersonating a police officer.
The man, dressed in a white police uniform with “Owusu” on his name tag, was surrounded while sitting in his vehicle. The crowd, some wielding sticks and recording with mobile phones, demanded he reveal his station. Despite the man calmly producing a police identification card and stating he was stationed at “Central,” the agitated group continued to mock him, with one individual heard saying, “If not for the police around, we would have finished him.
Local authorities have yet to release a formal statement confirming whether an official investigation into the incident or the officer’s credentials has been launched.
