Andy Appiah Kubi Withdraws as Wontumi’s Lawyer Again; Samuel Atta-Akyea Takes Over Exim Bank Case
Lawyer and Member of Parliament Andy Appiah Kubi has reportedly withdrawn as legal counsel for Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, for the second time in the ongoing legal battles involving the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Following the latest withdrawal, seasoned lawyer and former Abuakwa South MP Samuel Atta-Akyea has assumed responsibility for Wontumi’s legal defence, including representing him in the Exim Bank case. The change marks another significant development in the high-profile legal proceedings surrounding the NPP stalwart.
This is not the first time Appiah Kubi has stepped away from Wontumi’s legal team. Earlier this year, he voluntarily withdrew from representing the politician in the Samreboi illegal mining case, after which Atta-Akyea took over the defence. Atta-Akyea has previously maintained that Appiah Kubi’s decision to withdraw was voluntary and not the result of being dismissed by his client.
